Construction website design

Websites for UK builders that explain the work and bring in better enquiries

What the site should explain before someone enquires

Web Works Rise designs and builds websites for UK construction and building companies: builders, renovation firms, roofers, extension and loft conversion specialists, and companies that coordinate several trades. The site has to explain what you do, where you work and how a job runs, then make it easy for a homeowner, landlord or business to send a useful enquiry.

Our construction work is grounded in the Ecobuild project. Ecobuild is a West Midlands building company that coordinates work for homeowners, landlords, letting agents and commercial clients, and we built both its public website and the coordinator workspace behind it.

Most construction websites are built in Next.js so they load quickly on a phone, with local pages for the areas you cover and a short project enquiry form.

If your team needs to manage calls, site visits and quotations behind the website, see custom software development.

For advice on what to ask in a project enquiry, read our quote form guide.

Common problems with building company websites

The site is just a list of trades. Visitors cannot tell who manages the job, who they contract with or what happens after they enquire.

Local areas are missing. The business works across several towns, but the site does not mention them, so it rarely appears in local searches.

Project photos are slow or missing. Large, unoptimised images make the site slow on a phone, or the best work is not shown at all.

Enquiries arrive without the details. A generic contact form brings in messages with no postcode, job type or timescale, so each one needs a call before it can be assessed.

Urgent and planned work look the same. A leaking roof and a planned extension land in the same inbox with the same priority.

What a construction website includes

Each site is built around your services, your area and the way you take on work. A typical project covers the following.

A clear explanation of how you work. The route from enquiry to assessment, quotation and delivery, and who is responsible at each stage.

Service pages. A page for each main service, such as extensions, loft conversions, kitchens, bathrooms, roofing and repairs.

Area pages. Pages for the towns and districts you cover, written for local search and checked against where you really work.

Project photography. Finished projects and before-and-after photos, optimised to load quickly without losing quality.

A short project enquiry. Type of work and postcode first, then a few useful details, with no obligation and one clear next step.

Optional tools for your team. A private workspace for calls, follow-ups, site visits and quotations, when the volume of enquiries justifies it.

How a construction website project runs

The steps are adapted to the business. A timetable is agreed once the scope is clear.

01 Discovery

Which jobs you want more of, which areas you cover, and how enquiries are handled today.

02 Structure and design

Service and area pages, the enquiry journey, and a visual direction that shows the quality of your work.

03 Build

A fast Next.js site that works well on phones, with content your team can update.

04 Content and local search

Service and area copy, page titles, descriptions and headings written for the searches your customers make.

05 Test and launch

Forms, key pages and common phones are checked before the site goes live, and your team is shown how to edit it.

Ecobuild website and coordinator workspace

Ecobuild needed a site that explains one point of contact for the whole job. Service pages cover bathrooms and wet rooms, kitchen fitting, renovations, extensions and loft conversions, and roofing and repairs. Area pages cover Birmingham, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield and Castle Bromwich. A three-step enquiry feeds a coordinator workspace for calls, qualification, visits and quotations.

Why building companies work with Web Works Rise

The Ecobuild project gave the team a detailed view of how building work is enquired about, qualified, visited and quoted. That shapes the questions on the enquiry form and the way service and area pages are planned.

Web Works Rise is a UK-led team based in Birmingham, with a development hub in Tunisia. The same team can build the website and the tools behind it, then look after hosting and support.

Frequently asked questions

Do you only work with companies in the West Midlands?

No. The team is based in Birmingham and knows the West Midlands well, but works with building companies across the UK. Area pages are written for wherever you operate.

Can the website separate urgent repairs from planned projects?

Yes. The enquiry can ask for the type of work and the timescale first, so urgent jobs such as leaks are flagged and handled differently from planned extensions.

Can we show our past projects?

Yes. Project galleries and case studies can be added and updated by your team, with images optimised so the site stays fast.

Do we need an enquiry workspace as well as a website?

Not always. A clear website with a good enquiry form is enough for many firms. A workspace is worth considering when several people handle calls, visits and quotations each week.

Will the website help us appear in local searches?

The site is built with the structure local search needs: service and area pages, accurate titles and descriptions, and consistent business details. Rankings also depend on reviews, your Google Business Profile and local competition, so no position can be guaranteed.
